For more information, please see the Legal Advisory Opinion: Home State and Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology.

How can I list my APIT and/or TAP in my email signatures, vitae, resume, etc.?

Example: PSYPACT is an interstate compact which offers a voluntary expedited pathway for practice to qualified psychologists who wish to practice in multiple states. PSYPACT is designed to facilitate the practice of telepsychology and the temporary in-person, face-to-face practice of psychology across state boundaries.  In order to practice telepsychology in PSYPACT states, psychologists licensed in PSYPACT states only, can apply to the PSYPACT Commission for an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT).  In order to conduct temporary practice in PSYPACT states, psychologists licensed in PSYPACT states only can apply to the PSYPACT Commission for a Temporary Authorization to Practice (TAP).  The PSYPACT Commission is the governing body of PSYPACT and is comprised of one representative from each PSYPACT state. More information regarding PSYPACT and its requirements can be found at www.psypact.gov.

Please see Policy 2.6 for more information.

What is the relationship between PSYPACT and ASPPB?

  • ASPPB and the PSYPACT Commission are separate entities.
  • ASPPB drafted the PSYPACT Draft Statute and was instrumental in the jurisdictions' early adoption of it. Once the seventh jurisdiction enacted the PSYPACT legislation, the PSYPACT Commission was created in July 2019.The PSYPACT Commission is a body politic, an instrumentality of the state governments that have enacted the legislation.
  • ASPPB issues the pre-requisite certifications that are part of the APIT and TAP application requirements.
  • All APIT applicants must first obtain an E. Passport issued by ASPPB, and all TAP applicants must first obtain an IPC issued by ASPPB.
  • ASPPB sets all eligibility requirements for the E. Passport and IPC certificates.
  • ASPPB Mobility Services staff are responsible for processing E. Passport and IPC applications and respective renewals. Questions regarding these need to be directed to ASPPB staff.

The PSYPACT Commission staff are responsible for processing APIT and TAP applications and respective renewals. All PSYPACT practice, eligibility, application, and renewal questions should be directed to PSYPACT staff at info@psypact.org.
