Do You Qualify for the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact? Before you begin an application for authorization to practice telepsychology or temporarily under PSYPACT®, it is recommended that you prequalify yourself. Please follow the steps listed below:
Step 1: DETERMINE YOUR METHOD OF SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED Do you intend to provide telepsychology services or in person, face-to-face services? If you wish to practice telepsychology under the authority granted by the PSYPACT Commission you will need to meet the eligibility requirements for the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT®), which can be found below. If you intend to provide temporary in person, face-to-face services under the authority granted by the PSYPACT Commission please visit the Practicing Temporarily under PSYPACT page for more information.
Step 2: COMPACT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS You must meet all of the following requirements for APIT® (Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology) before applying:
STEP 3: COMPACT RULES AND DEFINITIONS Please be advised that all psychologists practicing under the authority granted by the PSYPACT Commission are responsible for making a self-determination of eligibility prior to applying for authorization to practice via the Compact, as well as a full understanding of the Compact rules. To complete step 3, please read the Compact Rules and Definitions. Once you have read the Compact Rules and Definitions, please proceed to Step 4.
STEP 4: OBTAIN AN E. PASSPORT-issued by ASPPB. Application information for an E. Passport can be found HERE.
STEP 5: APPLICATION FOR AUTHORIZATION After obtaining an E. Passport from ASPPB you will begin your APIT application. Once you have been notified by ASPPB that your E. Passport application has been approved you will log into your psypro.org account to complete your Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) application. Once logged in, navigate to your home page, and locate the “My Application History” section, your Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) application will be located there:
After selecting the “EDIT” button beside your Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) you will select the “EDIT” button beside the APIT Acknowledgement Record.
Here you will read each acknowledgment statement and place your initials inside the boxes, click and type your name at the bottom of the page to digitally sign the acknowledgement. Then select “SAVE AS COMPLETE”.
This will bring you back to your APIT application, where you will select the “EDIT” button beside the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) Home State Declaration Record line.
Next you will select your PSYPACT “home state” by selecting the add button:
Check the acknowledgement box, enter today’s date, and select your PSYPACT “home state” from the drop-down box. When selecting your declared “home state” please remember this must be a PSYPACT participating state or jurisdiction, you must hold a full, unrestricted license based off a doctoral level degree in psychology in this state and you must ALWAYS be physically located in this state while providing telepsychology using your PSYPACT authorization.
Selecting “SAVE AS COMPLETE” will bring you back to the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) application page, where you will be ready to submit your application for review.
Select the box attesting that all information in the application is accurate to the best of your knowledge and select the “SAVE AS COMPLETE” button.
Once your APIT application has been submitted for review please allow three (3) to four (4) weeks for processing. If additional information or documentation is needed a PSYPACT Commission Staff person will reach out to you. When your application review has been completed you will receive an email notice from noreply@psypro.org with your application final decision.
